Falsely Accused
How to respond to a nasty piece of hatemail
(For other articles, click here)
Introduction:
I’m a pretty nice guy, but I have to admit I have zero tolerance for people who send us hate mail. Constructive Criticism – anytime. But hate mail as an attempt to take a jab at what we are trying to do for people – no way. Below is email correspondence shared with just such a person. (For the "record", the initial response was doctored a bit by the person who sent out the email on my behalf but I have left it as is because it shows some passion to being wrongfuly accused. There is one more line in our response as well, but I am leaving it off because it too was not authorized by me and it doesn't serve any additional purpose. the second response is all mine.)

"We are always updating our database of articles.\" Really? You might want to update your \"paralegals\" article since the last time I checked it hasn\'t been $75 to file a claim in Small Claims for awhile now. One would think that a \"recognized authority\" on the Small Claims court might want to get that right.
Mr. Small Claims Court's Response :
Very courageous of you to hide behind anonymity. Funny thing is, you’re wrong! Below is the link to the fee schedule, or perhaps the government hasn’t been updating its database either. Get a life or come forward with your name.

Mr. Small Claims Court's Second Response :
I would love to have a chat with you to try and understand what prompted you to take the time to set up an anonymous account and express such harsh feelings against us. If I have offended you in any way from a past file or whatever, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss in confidence. We like to bridge gaps to the extent possible and not create them. I would like you to understand that there is a way of conducting one’s self and sending hate mail is not the answer. If you wish to send constructive criticism professionally, then by all means. I hope to hear back from you.
Peace.
